I like to consider vest weather an honorary season. It’s not too hot, not too cold and yet the cooler temperatures are seen as exciting instead of as a nuisance. One of the best parts about living in SF is that it’s pretty much my beloved vest season all year ’round. On any given weekend you’re likely to find me in some variation of this outfit: a vest paired with denim and ankle boots, with everything I need for errand running or shooting blog photos tucked away in a roomy tote. Easy.

Being back in Chicago has been quite the shocker to this vest weather girl – it’s freezing! To survive a 10 day winter-weather trip with only a carry-on suitcase I’ve packed away lots of wardrobe staples (which I’m now wearing all at once to try and stay warm!). Two of my all-time favorite powerhouse items? #1: Cuyana totes – I have this version in pebbled leather for an everyday and work bag and recently added their zip top tote to the rotation which is extra roomy for travel. And #2: Flat ankle boots, like this Sam Edelman pair that I’ve practically worn into the ground. They go with everything, look great with both jeans & dresses and are ultra comfortable for whatever your day entails.
