meet holden.
I apologize in advance if you’ve already been bombarded by Holden pictures on Instgaram, Twitter or even my Facebook page, but he’s too darn cute and he deserves a formal introduction. So… blog, meet Holden, the newest addition to my little family.
{ One of his adoption photos – seriously, how could I say no to that face?! }
I have been toying with the idea of getting another dog since I moved out to Chicago – Callie was raised around other dogs (my mom has three and my dad has two) and I felt guilty about her being alone so often with my busy schedule. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason so I spent the last (almost) year casually browsing Petfinder, with the belief that when I saw the right dog, I’d know. I even applied for a few pups that caught my eye, but things just didn’t end up working out. But then I saw Mr. Holden, who was named Durango after the model SUV that hit him in a rural, poor area of Minnesota. He was taken to the vet immediately by the driver and managed to escape the accident unscathed, but then found himself in a shelter since he had no collar, tags or microchip. After only a week there the poor guy was scheduled to be euthanized but was saved by Homeless Hounds Rescue and placed in foster care.
He’s the biggest mush and is happiest when he’s napping next to you. Big sis Callie is adjusting well and both doggies are tandem dog walking like champs (which makes my life a heck of a lot easier). I couldn’t be happier with my new addition and am so grateful that there are such fantastic rescues out there like Homeless Hounds and Perfect Pets (where I adopted Callie from) that save the lives of so many pups who ended up on death row in a shelter just because there are too many other dogs there.
