Apartment Decorating // The Office.
First and foremost, I will admit to you that this blog post title is a bit of a lie. You see, the unfortunate truth is that as much as I’d absolutely love to have a true office space… the realities of San Francisco’s insane rent prices are that we’re in a one bedroom still. Which means, no true office for me.
HOWEVER. Our new apartment has a much bigger open living space which we’re dividing up into three key areas: the office, the dining room and the living room. As I’m busy dreaming up design plans, shopping for new furniture and getting this place decorated I wanted to share some peeks into my vision and plans for our apartment (stay tuned, home tour coming this summer!).
First up? Pretty & Fun HQ, aka my office space nook. A look at how things are coming together:
BoConcept Desk Chair c/o // Similar Desk // CB2 Filing Cabinet
// Apple Thunderbolt Display // CB2 Desk Lamp // Acrylic Magazine Holder //
Storage Box // Faux Succulents // Cork Board
// Minted “French Elegance” Print // Minted “Point Lobos Flash” Print
Let’s start with the desk, shall we? I spend about 90% of my waking, at home hours cranking away on this very blog at the desk. Pictured is a very similar desk but ours is actually an IKEA hack from B’s bachelor pad (it’s one of the few pieces of furniture that made the move from Chicago to SF with us and that we kept during this move!) – it’s a butcher block countertop stained a deep brown with hairpin legs. For some added storage we grabbed a rolling filing cabinet from CB2 which keeps most of our paperwork and office supplies stashed away and keeps the space feeling clutter free, which is critical since it’s in a very visible space!
This year for my birthday B surprised me with Apple’s Thunderbolt Display which has been a life changing addition – it’s the ultimate blogging companion and just looks so damn pretty. To keep the little office nook feeling calm amongst the typical craziness of my schedule, I’ll be keeping decor simple with metallics (how good is this desk lamp?!) and a few black and white prints from Minted that remind me of two favorite places: Paris and the ocean.
But what I’m most excited about right now is my very own custom office chair from BoConcept. If you haven’t heard of BoConcept yet, you need to head there immediately because it’s the ultimate combination of the sleekness of Danish design and endless customization options. Recently I checked out SF’s store in the design district and met with Soren, the store owner to get a run down on BoConcept‘s latest pieces and the brand’s philosophy of making the most out of your space. Not only is each piece in the store gorgeous, but everything can be completely tailored to your space – everything from custom sofa sizes to beds with full storage underneath. After touring the store and chatting with Soren we were both inspired and impressed, and I’ve gotta say… my custom Adelaide chair is going to be a stunner with its black leather seat and white shell. I cannot wait!
We’ll definitely be making the most out of our space in this new apartment and I’m looking forward to getting settled in and my office area is a top priority. I cannot recommend the interior design services at BoConcept enough – they truly have a solution for everything! You can learn more about the brand and check out their new video “The Fight” here.
