It’s funny how quickly your body adjusts to a new climate. After surviving three brutal Chicago winters (and actually feeling like a badass about it), I am officially a California wuss. Whenever the temperature dips below 60 degrees, you’re likely to find me reaching for my heavy winter jackets that I swore I’d never have a need for again when we first arrived in San Francisco last year.

But to be honest, I kind of love it. After a lifetime of winters, this year round weather sameness still feels quite strange. And hey, bundling up is a lot more fun when it’s not 100% necessary for four months straight 😉

I’d also like to consider this outfit a test run for some real winter weather: I’m heading to Salt Lake City tomorrow to attend ALT Summit (best work trip ever? I think so!). It’s going to be my first time in Utah and my first ALT so I’m especially excited to soak it all in, plus get my winter weather fix. Two winter staples that are for sure coming along with me? This bright J. Crew peacoat and my trusty Bean Boots. A snowy scene is the perfect excuse for a pop of color, right?
